Transmutations: Featuring Abby Goodman and Christina Massey will open to the public on Friday, October 11th 2019, at noon. The exhibition will run through Sunday, November 17th, 2019. Transmutations will showcase both artists changing body of work.
Abby Goodman has been a metallurgist since the age of twelve and grew up in an old barn in the outskirts of Philadelphia. A nomadic nature drives her to work and study alongside masters around the globe, collecting knowledge in exchange for labor. These experiential travels forge the basis of Abby's work. Her newest body of work focuses on the textures, patterns, designs, and animal imagery she has encountered in the natural world. Sculpture, painting, installation, and performance all contribute to her autobiographical pastiche.
Christina Massey has always been influenced by nature in her body of work and it acts as a hidden agenda and representative aspect in her otherwise abstract work. Christina's mixed media glass sculptures were created as a part of an ongoing project titled, Experimental Glass Blowing. Experimental Glass Blowing is sponsored, in part, by the Greater New York Arts Development Fund of the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, administered by the Brooklyn Arts Council (BAC). Christina is fascinated by the "in-between" and creates works of art that are somewhere in the middle of sculpture and painting, craft and fine art, even abstract and representational.
The reception for the show will be on Friday, October 25th from 6-9! Please RSVP via firstname.lastname@example.org and costumes are encouraged!
